COMMERCIAL: Charles is an experienced commercial litigator, specialising in disputes involving contractual and shareholder disputes, as well as company, partnership and LLP law and claims against professionals. Charles’ broad litigation practice covers most areas of the law normally litigated in the Chancery Division and Queen's Bench, including: Company litigation, Corporate and individual insolvency, Partnership, Breach of contract, Agency, Misrepresentation and Guarantees.
PROPERTY AND ESTATES: Charles enjoys a busy property practice, covering Real Property matters such as advising and acting on proprietary estoppel claims, the interpretation and existence of mortgages, covenants and easements (including rights of way and rights to light) and claims in trespass and nuisance. Charles regularly advises on and appears in claims raising associated Trusts of Land issues, such as the existence and quantification of equitable interests in land and on express, resulting and constructive trusts. Finally, Charles has a busy Landlord and Tenant practice covering commercial and residential landlord and tenant law, including possession, advising on secured and assured tenancies, contested 1954 Act renewals and forfeiture and surrender.
INSOLVENCY: Corporate and individual insolvency and associated Companies Act 2006 and Insolvency Act 1986 applications, including all stages of winding-up and bankruptcy, applications under sections 171 to 177 of the Companies Act 2006, unfair prejudice petitions, shareholder disputes, applications to setting aside statutory demands, injunctions and validation orders.
