Catherine Youngman

A strategic member of the firm's Strategic Growth Committee and its Management Council, Catherine is a seasoned bankruptcy attorney with more than 29 years of experience guiding companies and creditors through complex financial situations.

In client references provided to Chambers, Catherine has been described as “smart and even-keeled” and as someone who “offers great and practical business solutions.” She is also noted for her “strong legal mind and great commercial sensibilities."

Catherine has wide-ranging financial restructuring experience, having represented large and small businesses in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 proceedings. She also has served as a government-appointed Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 Trustee in thousands of cases, overseeing and operating businesses while they are in bankruptcy. She knows how to assess the best way forward for a business, and how make hard choices.

Catherine also has represented many financial institutions and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, both as lenders and as purchasers of distressed assets. She understands complex financial lending structures, tiered lending and derivatives, and can spot security and other issues creditors need to know early to gain technical advantages.

Over the years, Catherine has had the honor of representing Unsecured Creditors Committees as well as Equity Holders. She represents private equity and hedge funds in and out of bankruptcy courts. Additionally, she has been picked many times to serve as Litigation or Liquidating Trustee in Post-Conformation Plans.

Catherine’s experience also extends to civil litigation, land use matters, commercial and residential foreclosure actions and document reviews. She has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases to completion.

Catherine is former Managing Partner of the firm's Morristown office.

Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Catherine was a partner at Forman Holt Eliades & Youngman LLC. She was also previously a partner at two boutique law firms for more than 15 years.
