Catherine is a senior associate in Reed Smith’s Global Commercial Disputes Group. She has particular experience in insurance recovery, acting solely for policyholders.

Catherine represents a wide range of high-profile clients on their insurance coverage, claims and disputes across a broad range of industry sectors, including transportation, energy, retail, marine and financial services. She advises regularly on a wide range of both liability and property policies (both marine and non-marine) and has strong expertise in Bermuda Form arbitrations for international commercial clients. Catherine’s practice has a strong international focus and she is experienced in handling complex, high-value, cross-border claims (both litigation and arbitration).

Earlier in her career, Catherine spent nine months on secondment to the brokerage Willis Towers Watson within the Financial Institutions Claims Advocacy team, during which time she advised a variety of financial institutions, including retail and investment banks, asset managers and corporate services providers, on their insurance claims.

In addition to her insurance practice, Catherine has extensive expertise in international arbitration and regularly represents international commercial clients in disputes under a number of institutional rules including LCIA, ICC as well as ad hoc arbitration under the Arbitration Act 1996. Catherine’s litigation experience also includes appeals to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
