Brian advises clients on large-scale real assets transactions, including infrastructure, energy, and real estate projects. He represents the owners and financing parties of major infrastructure assets in the United States, including power generation facilities, parking facilities, ports, airports and toll roads. He also represents Fortune 500 companies, large U.S. developers, and real estate funds with their real estate portfolios and investments. He has significant experience in portfolio sale-leaseback transactions; engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements; general secured financing; joint ventures; and annexation and development of real property. Brian has led some of the largest public-private partnership (P3) infrastructure transactions in the United States, particularly in connection with higher education facilities, including representing The Ohio State University in connection with the monetization of its energy facilities for over $1 billion. He has led numerous energy P3 and energy as a service (EaaS) transactions with a value in excess of $5 billion, including Henry Ford Health Facilities first-of-a-kind health care DBFOM tax exempt conduit for its new central utility plant. He also has represented companies in development and construction projects for a wide array of energy projects, including energy conservation measures (ECMs) and energy use intensity (EUI) reduction, biomass facilities, mines, solar and wind farms, and air quality control systems. Brian co-leads Jones Day's Real Estate, Energy Transition, and Infrastructure Practice worldwide.
