Practice Areas
Ben has a commercial law practice, with a particular interest in commodities, shipping, energy and insurance work. He appears regularly in the High Court and appellate courts, including two Supreme Court cases (The New Flamenco [2017] 1 WLR 2581 and Versloot Dredging v HDI Gerling [2017] AC 1) and several Commercial Court decisions of note in the past year: Weco v Loro Piana [2021] 2 All ER (Comm) 383, The Miracle Hope [2021] 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 552, Marasca v Bunge [2021] EWHC 359 (Comm) and JTI Polska v Jakubowski [2021] EWHC 1465 (Comm).
Ben’s international arbitration practice encompasses a broad range of institutional rules, including recent experience of LCIA, ICC, LMAA, SIAC, HKIAC, UNCITRAL, GAFTA and FOSFA rules, and foreign-seated arbitrations in Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore and The Hague.
