Practice Areas

Ben practises primarily in shipping, commodities, energy, insurance and conflict of laws, within a broad commercial practice. He appears regularly in the High Court and appellate courts, including recently in Weco v Loro Piana [2020] EWHC 2150 (Comm), an important authority on conflict of laws arising out of the loss of a superyacht, the Miracle Hope litigation [2020] EWHC 805, 995, 1073 (Comm) addressing the principles for letter of indemnity claims, and Natixis v Marex [2019] 2 Lloyd’s Rep. 431, a trial concerning a large nickel trading fraud. He has also acted in the Supreme Court on two shipping matters, The New Flamenco [2017] 1 WLR 2581 and Versloot Dredging v HDI Gerling [2017] AC 1.
