Practice Areas

Andrew is well known for this expertise and experience in trade and transport law with a focus on aviation and maritime law. He has a special interest in transport insurance, both aviation and marine. He was named as Best Lawyers in Australia Lawyer of the Year for Aviation for 2022.

Andrew's aviation experience sees him act principally for insurers. He has, however, also acted for individual passengers and relatives of passengers injured or killed in commercial aviation accidents, and for a wide variety of other clients in Australia in all aspects of aviation law. This includes advice on disputes concerning imports and exports, and advice to air freight forwarders and airline operators.

Andrew has extensive expertise in subrogated recovery actions against air carriers, and in insurance policy interpretation and drafting. He has worked both in Australia and overseas, providing advice to insurers in relation to these issues and has extensive knowledge of the Australian Insurance Contracts Act 1984.

For many years, Andrew has been significantly involved in the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand and is a Past President and Council member. He was also a founding member of the Australian Aviation Insurance Forum and continues as Secretary of that organisation.
