About

Provided by Colin Biggers & Paisley

Our team provides expert legal and strategic advice across all modes of transport. For the shipping sector we advise on: admiralty, sea carriage (bill of lading and charter party disputes and passenger cruise ship issues), marine insurance (policy wording hull; cargo and liability claims), ship sale and purchase, procurement, vessel chartering issues and charter party disputes, trade and commodity disputes, supply chain and logistics contracts, personal injury claims and commercial and ship finance transactions. We also act for ship owners and their P&I Clubs, charterers, ship's agents, marine insurers, exporters and importers, commodity traders and others associated with the transport industry.

We have local and cross-border capabilities, often working on multi-jurisdictional matters both contentious and transactional. As a member of ADVOC, the global network of commercial law firms and through other connections with international lawyers specialising in maritime law, we can also provide our clients with easy access to legal advice throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Compared with other firms practising in the industry, we are, best known as a leading practice for cargo and chartering interests and for marine insurers as well as our broad-based maritime practice. Few other practices have the breadth of subject matter expertise across contentious and transactional work as ours, as set out in more detail in the following sections.
