Acting as leading counsel for Claimants in the multi-billion pound FSMA s.90/90A claim against Glencore; acted in FSMA s.90 claims against RBS, Fred Goodwin and others arising from RBS’s 2008 Ā£12bn Rights Issue; in further FSMA s.90 claims (G4S and Serco); acted for Defendants in ENRC v Gerrard & Dechert LLP; SKAT v Solo Capital Partners (lead defendants in US$2bn claim by Danish tax authorities); and a Ā£multi-million claim against Clydesdale Bank and parent company National Australia Bank; recently acted in Societe Generale S.A. v Clifford Chance, successfully resisting jurisdiction challenge at first instance and on appeal; successful at trial and appeal in Byers v Saudi National Bank (formerly Samba Financial Group), and in two Court of Appeal cases (Libyan Investment Authority v King (for LIA) in claim for fraud in relation to Maple Cross hotel development, and Strategic Technology Pts Ltd v Procurement Bureau of the Republic of China (for appellant Taiwan), now the leading case on enforcement of a foreign judgment under Administration of Justice Act 1920).

Renowned for art disputes, appearing for the auction house in two leading cases this century (Thomson v Christie’s (trial and appeal 2004 and 2005); Thwaytes v Sotheby’s (trial 2014, judgment 2015). Regularly sits as LCIA and ICC arbitrator; now in LMAA and DIAC arbitrations; an Arbitrator on the Court of Arbitration for Art (CAfA).
