Ian Wilson KC has a commercial litigation practice, specialising in banking and finance (including consumer credit and regulatory work), commercial fraud, insolvency and professional negligence. Ian is recognised as a leading expert in his field and is regularly instructed by UK and foreign banks and financial institutions, as well as large insolvency firms, in some of their most substantial and significant cases. He has extensive experience of commercial and retail banking, including securities, derivatives, investment management, and international finance. He has particular experience in representing banks in mis-selling claims, fraud trials, payment protection insurance and commission claims, āunfair relationshipā claims, group litigation and multi-jurisdictional issues.
Ian is also a recognised academic lawyer. He is the general co-editor of the latest (2023) edition of Paget on Banking Law, the leading textbook in this field. He will be the co-author of two new books due to be published in 2025, one on third party rights in commercial law, and the other on the law of international finance. In 2024, he was a speaker-participant at a symposium on private law at Cambridge University.
