Álvaro Klauer specializes in energy regulation, particularly for the electricity and infrastructure markets, renewable energy and project development, including handling tariff and operational issues with the electricity system regulator and coordinator.

He handles M&A and financing transactions, and public and private bidding processes, and advises clients on drafting, negotiating and managing all relevant contracts and agreements for those transactions.

Before joining Cuatrecasas, he was a senior associate at a major Peruvian firm.

He is a member of the Lima Bar Association.

He is a lecturer of energy law (previously adjunct lecturer) at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. He has also been adjunct lecturer on the Economic Administrative Law and Business Law course at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas UPC.

He is the author and co-author of several articles and opinions published in law and electricity-sector journals.

Álvaro is a member of the Lima Bar Association.

• Yinson Renewables with regulatory advice on all electricity matters.

• Ignis Energy on regulatory matters regarding its extensive portfolio of renewable energy projects in Peru, such as Quercus, Alba, and Zapote.

• Acciona Energía on the development of the 155 MW San Jose solar PV project in Arequipa.

• Sierra Sun Group on the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Compañía Minera Cerro Salto S.A.C. (“Cerro Salto”) from Compañía Minera Ares (CMA), a Peruvian subsidiary of Hochschild Plc.

• Zelestra on regulatory matters for the development and structuring of key contractual frameworks of the San Martin Solar Project.

• Viridi RE on the transfer of 100% of the shares representing the capital stock of Viridi Energías Renovables Desarrollos S.A.C. (PV Babilonia 200 MW) to Pampul Holdco S.L.
