Alex specialises in EU and UK competition law, particularly merger control, enforcement actions and state aid law. Clients turn to him for strategic, commercially focused advice and representation on complex transactions, antitrust investigations and distribution strategy (including selective distribution and e-commerce issues). He has experience across many industry sectors, including consumer goods, leisure, financial services, healthcare, chemicals, security and defence.
Alex is based in London and often works out of Brussels. In 2008/09, he spent 18 months in Beijing co-leading the China antitrust practice. Alex regularly co-ordinates antitrust strategy across multiple jurisdictions – enabling him to offer a truly international perspective.
Alex has been a partner since 2003.
Alex is qualified in England and Wales, and Ireland, and is a member of the Law Societies of England & Wales and Ireland, the Competition Law Committee of the City of London Law Society and the American Bar Association.
Alex is author of the UK chapter of 'The Foreign Investment Regulation Review', 6th Edition. He has published articles in the ABA Antitrust magazine and is winner of the 2019 Antitrust Writing Awards: Business Articles, Unilateral Conduct.
Alex was educated at the University of Bristol (LLB Hons).
