Career
With over 25 years of experience, he is recognized as one of the leading practitioners in the country, particularly in commercial litigation and international arbitration. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and leads the dispute resolution team at RIAA Barker Gillette in Islamabad.
He has acted as lead counsel in numerous high-profile arbitration matters, including cross-border investment disputes and complex commercial arbitrations. His arbitration experience includes representing clients before the ICC tribunal in London and in ICSID proceedings. Domestically, he has successfully handled significant arbitrations involving oil and gas, infrastructure projects, and telecoms. His strategic approach and deep sector-specific understanding of law have earned him a reputation for achieving favorable outcomes in high-stakes disputes.
In addition to his dispute resolution work, Yousaf has contributed to legislative drafting in Pakistan. His efforts include drafting key laws such as the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill (2015) and the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Act (2013).
