Career
Xavier Andrade is a truly international lawyer. He was VP Legal of a mobile telecommunications company; foreign lawyer with the International Transactions Group of Holland & Knight LLP (Washington D.C.); lawyer with the Arbitration team of Dechert LLP (Paris); and Member of the ICC YAF Regional Coordinating Committee. He currently acts as arbitrator in domestic and international proceedings.
Xavier is dedicated to mining, arbitration, foreign investment and Competition Law. He provides counsel to foreign investors on risk mitigation and investment protection and rights defense in arbitration and judicial proceedings.
In local and international arbitration, Xavier has advised clients in pharmaceutical, telecommunications, mining, oil& gas, logistics, investment and insurance industries. He serves as an arbitrator in local and international cases.
In corporate matters, Xavier is recognized as a seasoned corporate lawyer with experience in corporate and commercial matters in mining, pharmaceutical, logistics industries.
He advises companies on M&A projects and is specialized on mining agreements, including option, ear-in, farm-in, stream, offtake, joint ventures as well as mining operations, financing and guarantees, among others.
In competition law (Antitrust) Xavier focuses on competition clearance of M&A transactions. He has extensive experience in investigation proceedings on abuse of market power and anticompetitive agreements.
Xavier has taught Competition Law and Economic Analysis of Law at the San Francisco de Quito University (SFQU), and he has lectured “International Arbitration” in Ecuador’s main universities for over 14 years.
