Career

Multinational companies require sophisticated, experienced representation for their invaluable intellectual property rights. Evan Fultz is a trusted advisor to such companies, helping them manage, defend, and enforce their interests at home and abroad. He has extensive experience serving as lead outside IP counsel for clients in the pharmaceutical, financial services, healthcare, and other industries.

Evan advises businesses on their trademark and other proprietary rights in connection with the launch and protection of new brands, as well as in connection with acquisitions, divestitures, and expansions. He also manages worldwide portfolios as well as comprehensive monitoring and enforcement programs. In addition, Evan frequently handles IP disputes and has extensive experience litigating trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the USPTO. He has conducted hundreds of domain-name dispute proceedings under ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and assists in infringement matters in state and federal court. He also negotiates various IP-related transactions and agreements.

Evan is an active member of the International Trademark Association and is regularly recognized in various national and international rankings and publications. In 2023, the World Trademark Review 1000 again included Evan in its list of leading global trademark practitioners, reporting the following client commentary: “It is quite unusual to meet an attorney with such a strong combination of passion, intelligence and conscientiousness. Evan exceeds expectations. He distinguishes himself as an exceptionally passionate, bright and conscientious attorney. Evan really cares deeply about doing what’s right, and I am confident in his ability to do so. He has a knack for generating innovative legal solutions to business problems.” Similarly, Chambers USA reported in 2022 that Evan “is a fantastic lawyer” and a “trusted strategic partner.”

Also active in his community, Evan provides regular pro bono services to local non-profits, volunteers with various community organizations, and is a former Board member of the North Carolina Symphony.
