Wei represents banks, non-bank financiers, and borrowers in lending transactions across various sectors, including residential construction, land subdivision, healthcare, general corporate, agribusiness, industrials, and resources. He is also an integral member of the McR Private team, where he supports family offices and private clients. Recognised for his pragmatic approach, Wei excels at identifying and addressing key issues, breaking down complex problems into practical and commercial solutions. His background includes a variety of financing arrangements, such as syndicated, club, and bilateral loans, as well as project finance, derivatives, and debt capital markets. He advises clients on transaction structuring, conducts due diligence, and assists with the drafting and negotiation of finance documents.

Wei has practised in banking and finance law for over 20 years, including more than 15 years in private practice across Australia, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. He has almost five years’ in-house experience at a 'Big four' Australian bank. Wei’s expertise encompasses corporate and institutional debt financing, mezzanine lending, and cross-border transactions. He is well-versed in navigating complex regulatory environments, ensuring compliance while achieving optimal financing outcomes for his clients.
Wei began his career at Minter Ellison in Brisbane, gaining foundational experience in banking and finance law. He then enhanced his expertise at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, where he focused on structured and asset finance, and then DLA Piper in Hong Kong, where he worked on corporate lending transactions throughout southeast Asia. Prior to joining McCullough Robertson as a partner, Wei worked in the Loan Structuring and Execution team at ANZ. At McCullough Robertson, he has established himself as a key figure in the banking and finance practice, leveraging his extensive experience ‘on both sides’ to provide tailored solutions and strategic guidance to clients. Wei’s collaborative approach and commitment to client success have made him a trusted advisor within the firm and to his clients.
