Timothy A Baron

Tim’s practice is focused on debt finance, investment funds and derivatives. His clients include domestic and international asset managers, Canadian and foreign banks, corporations, pension funds and other institutional investors. Tim is regularly sought out to advise on syndicated and asset-backed lending facilities and project finance. He has acted for many of Canada’s largest and most sophisticated asset managers and has assisted with the establishment of numerous alternative investment funds, including hedge funds, fund of funds, exchange-traded funds and other investment vehicles. Numerous corporate and institutional end-users consult him for strategic advice on derivative transactions and their complex regulatory regimes. Tim has taught sections of the Advanced Business Law Workshop at Osgoode Hall Law School and has lectured at Osgoode’s Intensive Course in Commercial Loan Finance and Security. He also speaks at numerous conferences and writes on topics related to lending, investment funds and derivatives. Tim is a member of the Managed Funds Association and the Alternative Investments Management Association.
