Tommy McGoey has over 30 years of litigation experience and leads the firm’s labor and employment law practice group. He takes a client-focused approach when representing employers in litigation or counseling them through human resources issues. In lawsuits, labor arbitrations and agency proceedings, Tommy collaborates with the client to build a strong case or seek an effective early resolution. In his HR counseling role, he gathers the facts, analyzes the legal principles, formulates a practical solution, and works with the client team to implement the solution and effectively communicate it to employees. Tommy is experienced in defending discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblower claims. He has handled many non-compete and trade secret matters, from the side of the employer whose employee has moved to a competitor and taken confidential information, and from the side of the employer who has hired a competitor’s employee and disclaimed any interest in his former employer’s trade secrets. Tommy also drafts employment agreements and policies, conducts due diligence review of employment provisions in acquisition agreements, and provides supervisory training.
Tommy enjoys music, New Orleans restaurants, college sports, golf, and time with the family.
