Thiago Luís Sombra works at the intersection of law, technology, and regulation, with notable experience in anti-corruption, investigations, and data protection. His experience includes investigations conducted by national and foreign authorities, complex cases, and strategic matters also involving infrastructure, public procurement, concessions, and administrative contracts. Directories such as Legal 500 and Chambers describe him as a strategy-focused lawyer, present in major international cases, particularly with Asian and European clients.
Holding a PhD in Law, Technology, and Regulation from the University of Brasília and the London School of Economics, Thiago completed post-doctoral studies in Anti-Corruption at the University of São Paulo and holds a master’s degree from PUC-SP and Università di Camerino. He passed the public examination for Professor at the University of Brasília and serves on the editorial boards of institutions such as FGV, STF, and USP. He is the author of three books and numerous articles published in Brazil and abroad.
In the public sector, he served as State Attorney of São Paulo for over ten years and as clerk at the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), working on significant cases before the Supreme Court (STF) and the STJ. He received the “Estado em Juízo” award for his work before the STF, which generated billions in savings for public coffers. He contributed to the drafting of Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD) and was a member of the Congressional Commission of Jurists responsible for Brazil’s AI legislation bill.
