Career
Ms. Avalos is an associate at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez S.C. where she specializes in tax advisory. Starting 2023, Susana is based in the European Office of the Firm, in Madrid, Spain.
Ms. Avalos obtained her CPA degree and her Law Bachelor’s Degree from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 2016.
Ms. Avalos joined Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez S.C. in 2017. Prior to joining the Firm, she worked at a highly renowned Tax Law boutique Firm from March 2016 through April 2017 where she kept specializing in tax advisory.
Throughout her career, Ms. Avalos has focused her practice on tax advisory services in the context of M&A transactions, corporate restructures, and international taxation. Ms. Avalos has been counsel to national and internation clients, including private equity and pension funds, in connection with their investment in energy projects, highways and roads, data centers, and real estate. Ms. Avalos’ contributions lead her to her nomination as a Rising Star for Indirect Taxes at the 2023 Americas Tax Awards.
Ms. Avalos has published and co-authored articles for Tax Notes International titled “Global Minimum Taxes. A roadmap to the Future of the New International System” (July 2022), and “Mexico’s Undertaxed Payment Rule and Its Interplay With FDII, GILTI, and Subpart F” (April 2021).
Ms. Avalos’ native language is Spanish and she is fluent in English.
