Career

Sara heads the firm´s Constitutional and Administrative Litigation Practice, leading our specialized litigation teams in the defense against inadequate regulation, policies or administrative decisions, mainly in complex markets and regulated sectors in which technical expertise in economics and market operation provide a unique perspective for the defense strategy.

She has ample experience in antitrust litigation ranging from anticompetitive behavior to merger control and other antitrust law infringements. She has participated in many landmark cases that have paved the way for how constitutional and antitrust provisions are interpreted and applied in Mexico.

Sara is also part of our ESG practice, with vast experience in assessing regulatory impact, as well as designing and executing litigation strategies aiding the promotion and protection of ESG standards, including renewable energy, energetic transition and sustainability; this in addition to the internalization of sustainability criteria in competition strategy.

Sara has been recognized as a leading practitioner by specialized publications and rankings, including Legal 500 (Competition and Antitrust Rising Star of the Year 2023), Chambers & Partners Latin America (Band 4) and Best Lawyers (Administrative Law-Competition and Antitrust Law).

She has also been recognized by the Competition Authority for her investigation work “The Barriers to competition regime in Mexico: A complementary competition tool to achieve economic welfare” and has contributed to many antitrust related publications, most recently: “Public Competition Enforcement – Chapter Mexico” published by The Law Reviews (11, 12 and 13 editions), “Price Controls and Competition Law during COVID-19 in Latin America” and “Competition Law in Latin America: A practical Guide” published by Wolters Kluwer.

Professional Memberships

She is an active member of the Mexican Bar and a non-governmental advisor for the Mexican Authority at the International Competition Network.

Sara has authored and co-authored several articles on antitrust matters.

Personal

Sara obtained her Law degree from the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City, and her Master´s degree in Economics for Competition Law from King’s College London.
