Band 3
Provided by Stuart Wortley
Stuart is a partner in the Real Estate Litigation group in London and Cambridge.
He has significant trial experience including a high court trial which lasted 35 days and a rent review arbitration hearing which lasted 6 weeks.
His focus is on finding solutions to disputes and problems concerning property - including disputes between joint venture partners and professional negligence claims involving property.
Since 2017, Stuart has obtained over 60 civil injunctions to restrain trespass / nuisance. This is principally on behalf of businesses at risk of protestor activity (including Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil) but also on behalf of buildings and construction sites which are at risk of trespass by “urban explorers”.
Unusually, he also has experience of contempt of court proceedings against protestors – including the leading Court of Appeal authority on this issue.
Stuart is a former chairman of the Property Litigation Association and is recognised in the Hall of Fame in Legal 500.
“He has an instant grasp of everything and consistent accuracy which make him a pleasure to instruct”

“Interviewees praise his practical common-sense approach to disputes. He is absolutely superb, very proactive in litigation and very good at tracking down evidence and documents”
“He listens intently, doesn’t miss a thing and understands the business very well. His quick response and way of dealing with things has prevented problems from becoming litigious”
