Stephan Heckenthaler is a partner in the firm's Banking & Finance Team and has extensive experience in advising national and international banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and other undertakings (such as fintechs) on the increasing regulatory requirements. In the context of M&A transactions, restructuring and reorganisation in the financial markets sector (e.g. the acquisition or sale of banks and insurance companies and bank restructurings) he advises on all aspects of financial services regulation.

Before joining Binder Grösswang in 2010, he worked for the US law firm Debevoise & Plimpton in Frankfurt. He received his PhD from the University of Vienna in 2005 and his postgraduate degree (LL.M.) from New York University in 2008. He is admitted to the bar in both Austria and New York.
Stephan is a member of the German-American Lawyers Association (DAJV) and the New York State Bar Association.
