Ivo Rungg

Ivo Rungg is a Partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology and Digital Law Team. He assists companies and creative entrepreneurs in protecting and defending their trademarks, works and know-how in and out of court, as well as in the implementation of advertising measures, especially in the online sector. Licensing, IT contracts and new technologies, such as IoT and Cloud, are among his main areas of expertise. Ivo is a certified expert in data protection law and advises in Corporate law.

He began his career in a renowned commercial law firm in Vienna and worked at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. He joined Binder Grösswang in 1999. Ivo studied at the Universities of Vienna and Innsbruck (Dr. iur. 1994, Mag. iur. 1992 and Mag. phil. 1993).

He is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), MARQUES, the Wissenschaftliche Interessensgemeinschaft für Informationsrecht (IT-Law) and the Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht e.V. (GRUR). Furthermore, he is a member of the Data Protection Committee of INTA, member of DOAG, chairman and member of the board of two Austrian private foundations.

Since 2014, Ivo has been a lecturer at the Institute for Corporate Law of the Law Faculty of the University of Innsbruck and regularly publishes specialist articles, including as an editor in the business magazine Econova.
