Career
Miloš Laković is a senior partner and the head of Refine Legal's Energy and Corporate/M&A departments in Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. Miloš specialises in energy, regulatory, and infrastructure projects in the region, with a particular emphasis on renewable energy developments. Throughout his career, he has advised on a wide range of electricity generation projects, including wind, solar, hydro, coal-fired, biomass, and biogas, as well as BESS and trading activities in the energy sector.
Widely recognised as one of the leading lawyers on the Balkan renewable energy market, Miloš has led numerous high-profile energy M&A transactions and has an impressive track record in advising on acquisition, development, financing, and construction of large-scale wind and solar power plants in Serbia and the wider region. He regularly supports investors and developers throughout the entire project lifecycle. Some of his notable clients include Trina Solar, Fortis Energy, Masdar Taaleri Generation, Margas Energy, Caspian Solar, Huadian Power International, among many others.
In the regulatory sector, Miloš served as lead legal counsel for the governments of Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, as well as the EBRD, advising them on the design and implementation of new legal and regulatory frameworks to promote renewable energy in the aforementioned countries. In the same context, he advised the Government of Serbia on the implementation of the first and second CfD auctions and on policies to facilitate corporate PPAs.
Miloš is a founding and board member of the Serbian Energy Law Association (UPES), as well as one of the founders of the Serbian Corporate Compliance Association. Since 2010, he has authored the Serbian and Montenegrin chapters of the annual European Energy Handbook published by Herbert Smith Freehills.
