Sarah van den Brande is a partner in the IP/IT/Data team.
Sarah is an all-round litigator, focusing on the intertwined legal areas of intellectual property, technology, database rights and market practices.
Regarding intellectual property her practice has a strong focus on copyright, trademarks, database rights and designs,. She frequently works for the media & communication, collecting societies and right management platforms, artists, designers and photographers.
Sarah’s expertise in ICT includes cyber security, online defamation and harassment, e-commerce, e-reputation, e-mobility, ethical hacking, peer-to-peer platforms, technology licensing and outsourcing agreements (including offshoring).
Her work in data spans the entire range of matters including personal and non-personal data: trade secrets, data compliance, data leaks, direct marketing and profiling, data transfers outside the EEA and public sector information. Her data practice covers a range of sectors, such as mobility, energy, banking & finance, public sector and retail.
She handles both contentious and non-contentious matters (contracting and legal advice) in all the areas mentioned above and her negotiation skills have praised multiple time (see the quotes under recognition below).
She is a member of several professional associations in Intellectual Property, such as the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Belgian Board of Directors, the Benelux Trademark and Industrial Design Association (BMM) and the editorial committee and the Belgian Copyright Association (ABA).
Sarah is a member of the Brussels bar, joined Liedekerke in 2019 and became partner in 2022.
