Practice Areas

Samantha is a Partner in McMillan’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group with a focus on complex class actions and corporate/commercial disputes. She has appeared at all levels of Canadian courts including the Supreme Court of Canada. She acts on domestic and international class action defence matters, involving a wide range of issues including cartel and antitrust, securities, consumer protection, misleading advertising and product liability. She has particular expertise in competition class actions, and has acted on cases involving finance (foreign exchange, SSA bonds), electronic components (DRAM, ODD), digital display advertising, generic drugs, various auto parts, caustic soda, salmon, fragrances and brokerage commissions. Samantha has acted for companies in the technology, chemicals, cannabis, retail, food/beverage and mining industries, on matters including contested M&A litigation, hostile proxy and control contests, enforcement, derivative actions, oppression claims, cross-border shareholder disputes and securities class actions. Samantha was appointed to the Ontario Securities Commission - Securities Proceedings Advisory Committee in 2023. She also teaches Securities Litigation at Queen’s University. In 2019, Samantha completed a secondment with the Office of Mergers and Acquisitions at the Ontario Securities Commission.
