Head of IP Rogier de Vrey has extensive experience in advising on all aspects of intellectual property, technology and media matters.
Rogier did his PhD on unfair competition law. During his PhD, Rogier worked at several renowned institutions, including the European Commission and the Max Planck Institute in Munich.
In his practice, Rogier has a particular focus on international intellectual property law matters, both transactions and litigation. He advises in the areas of parallel trade, anti-counterfeiting, exploitation and (cross border) enforcement of IP rights and IP licensing.
Rogier is associate professor at Utrecht University and member of the Editorial Board of the renowned Intellectual Property and Advertising Law Magazine (IER). He is author of several publications in the field of IP/TMC, e.g. coauthor of the leading handbook on Enforcement of IP rights.
Recently, Rogier was the Chairman of the Study Committee from the Dutch Advertising Law Association (VvRr), responding to the ACM Guidance on protection of the Digital Consumer. As a member of the Working Group for the Dutch AIPPI group, he assisted in a report on “Inventorship of inventions made using artificial intelligence”. And as associate professor at the University of Utrecht, he was involved in a project instituted by the WODC (the official research institution of the Ministry of Justice and Security) about the Regulation of Algorithms that make independent decisions.
Rogier is Panelist at the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in Geneva) for domain name arbitration.
