Egon Engin-Deniz is heading the Intellectual Property and Media Department of CMS in Vienna and the respective SEE offices. He is an IP lawyer and litigator with expertise in many areas. He is leading expert in the fields of Life Sciences & Healthcare and TMC - Technology, Media & Telecommunications. Egon advises clients from a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical and medical device companies, Biotech, Agroscience, food and foodstuff, IT and Telekoms and the Media Industry.
Egon has a high level of expertise in complex multi-jurisdictional litigation as well as in contentious and non-contentious trademark, domain and patent law, copyright law including access control law, distribution law and unfair competition law. Many of his case relate to Product Piracy Customs Action, online infringement, anti-counterfeiting as well as parallel trade litigation and trade secret protection.
Egon is a delegate of the International Trademark Association (INTA), a council member of MARQUES (the European Brand Owners Association) and now a member of the MARQUES Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Team, a member of the programming committee of the IT-Rechtstag at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and a delegate of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA). Egon headed the Global CMS Intellectual Property Group from 2009 to 2014.
Egon teaches trademark law at the University of Vienna, Juridicum, at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and other academic institutions. He was re-elected as an executive member of the board of both the Vienna and Federal Bar Associations in Austria, where he mainly deals with the implementation of European Law.
