Rodrigo Urrutia is a partner and co-head of the firm’s arbitration practice, alongside Alex Campos. With more than 19 years of experience, he focuses on complex arbitration and arbitration-related litigation, with particular strength in commercial, corporate, regulatory and construction disputes.

Rodrigo represents clients in high-value and strategically significant disputes, particularly in matters involving construction, infrastructure and regulated industries. He has acted in arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, Lima Chamber of Commerce (LCC), Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), and has substantial experience in disputes involving state-owned entities.

His practice also extends to arbitration-related litigation, including recognition and enforcement of domestic and foreign arbitral awards, set-aside proceedings and applications for interim measures prior to arbitration.

His work combines arbitration expertise, litigation experience and a strong understanding of the commercial and technical issues underlying complex disputes, allowing him to advise clients on the broader strategy required to protect and enforce their position before, during and after proceedings.

Member of the ICC Peru Commission for the Promotion of Instruments and Events since 2017.

Consorcio Obrainsa Astaldi – Alto Piura Project

Co-lead counsel in multiple arbitrations arising from a USD 150 million EPC contract for a major hydroelectric and irrigation project. The team secured four favourable awards granting extensions of time and related costs, as well as a further award confirming that termination was not attributable to the client.

Sacyr Construcción – ICC Arbitration

Lead counsel in an ICC arbitration arising from a USD 135 million contract for the transportation and delivery of natural gas. The dispute concerned contractual performance and the attempted enforcement of a USD 5.3 million bank guarantee and concluded through an out-of-court settlement.

China Railway Tunnel Group – Infrastructure Arbitrations

Lead counsel in a series of arbitrations arising from major road infrastructure projects in Peru. The matters include favourable awards on extensions of time and related costs, successful defence of an award before the Peruvian courts, and arbitration concerning the Costa Verde road project before the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
