Career

Rodrigo is a counsel of Von Wobeser y Sierra with more than fourteen years of experience in dispute resolution and he is licensed to practice law in both Mexico and New York. He is a key player in the practices of Arbitration and Litigation. He is also part of the Energy & Natural Resources industry group.

Rodrigo has participated in dozens of commercial, energy, infrastructure and investor-state arbitrations, all conducted according to the rules of the world’s most recognized arbitration institutions. Often those arbitrations have involved complex contractual arrangements, parallel lawsuits, and enforcement proceedings in different jurisdictions. He has years of experience in litigation before Mexican courts, both federal and state, in commercial disputes of different sectors, as well as sophisticated administrative and constitutional law cases such as challenges to federal and local laws, administrative resolutions, fines, sanctions, and administrative terminations.

The primary industries in which he has been involved include automotive, aeronautics, consumer goods, agribusiness and biosafety, information technology, oil and gas, electricity, telecommunications, real estate, and infrastructure.

He is also an expert in obtaining interim measures, and in the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. He has participated in complex cross-border bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, representing both creditors and debtors. His pro bono work has benefited vulnerable groups, immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers and victims of discrimination. Rodrigo is currently adjunct professor of International Litigation and History of Law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho. He has authored many articles on issues related to litigation and arbitration, and has lectured and participated in international panels in different forums.

Rodrigo has been recognized in the Arbitration and Litigation practices by Legal 500, Lexology Index, and Benchmark Litigation, among other publications.
