Roderick Nieuwmeyer heads up our EU and Competition, antitrust and trade law practice in Brussels and Amsterdam. He is an expert in EU law with a focus on competition and EU regulatory law.
Roderick has extensive experience in merger control proceedings and antitrust investigations before the European Commission and national competition authorities. He negotiated settlements and represented leniency recipients with both the European Commission and the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). Roderick advises on a wide range of issues including distribution practices, foreign direct investment control and antitrust compliance.
Roderick’s sector focus is on retail and consumer as well as life sciences and healthcare.
Roderick joined Osborne Clarke in 2022 from the EU law office of an international legal practice. He is a member of the Bars in Amsterdam and Brussels (EU-list) and works closely with both the Belgian and Dutch offices of Osborne Clarke.
Roderick holds an LL.M in European Legal Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium) as well as LL.M degrees in European & Public International Law and Dutch Civil Law from Leiden University (the Netherlands).

A member of the Bar in both Brussels and Amsterdam, Roderick Nieuwmeyer is based in Brussels but also heads Osborne Clarke's competition law practice in the Netherlands. He enters the rankings this year on the back of assisting clients with high-profile ACM behavioural investigations. He has further experience in state aid mandates and the competition law compliance aspects of distribution agreements.
