Career
Roberto Pereira is a seasoned attorney specializing in Criminal Law, Compliance, Constitutional Law, and Freedom of Expression. He served for ten years at the Office of the Ombudsman in Peru, where he led the Constitutional Affairs Office and the First Deputy Ombudsman’s Office, contributing to key legal actions, including unconstitutionality actions and Amicus Curiae.
Since 2008, Roberto has been in private practice, focusing on criminal litigation and advisory. He represents leading companies and high-ranking State officials, and has served as an expert witness in the District Court of Maryland, USA. He has also worked Pro Bono defending journalists with the Press and Society Institute (IPYS) and has consulted for the World Bank and German Cooperation (GIZ). Furthermore, he also defended high-ranking State officials against criminal charges and constitutional violations before the National Parliament.
Roberto holds a Law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, a Master’s in Criminal Law from the Universities of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra, and a Postgraduate degree in Legal Argumentation from the University of Alicante. He has taught extensively at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and is a member of the Lima Bar Association.
He has published widely in his fields of expertise and regularly lectures both nationally and internationally.
