Rieme-Jan Tjittes is a leading expert in complex litigation and arbitration with regard to a wide array of (international) commercial contracts. In addition he frequently serves as an arbitrator and is very successful in corporate and commercial cases before the Dutch Supreme Court.
Rieme-Jan worked in the Litigation & Arbitration Department of Allen & Overy. Previously, he served as a fulltime Justice in the Courts of Appeal for eight years and for ten years as deputy Justice in the Court of Appeal.
J.D. and Ph.D. (University of Groningen). Rieme-Jan is a substitute Justice in the Netherlands Commercial Court and a professor of Private Law at VU University Amsterdam. He published a leading treatise on (international) commercial contracts in the Netherlands (‘Commercieel contractenrecht, deel I, Boom Juridisch, 2018’).
