Richard specialises in commercial chancery litigation, in particular commercial cases (often with a fintech, industrial or technological flavour), commercial property disputes, company and corporate insolvency claims, and civil fraud. He is also frequently instructed in cases in adjacent fields, such as property-related professional negligence and private client disputes. Notable current / recent cases include: a multi-million pound shareholder dispute over a company in the fintech sector; advising on property and contractual issues in a very high-value renewable energy joint venture; representing a luxury private airline in litigation against its landlord; advising in a dispute between medical technology companies based in England and Dubai; and representing the successful respondent in the UK Supreme Court in Sara & Hossein v Blacks (2023), a dispute over service charge mechanisms in commercial leases.
