Practice Areas

Neil Campbell is Co-Chair of McMillan’s Competition and International Trade groups. His competition practice focuses on Competition Act and Investment Canada Act merger clearances, cartel investigations and class actions, abuse of dominance proceedings and compliance issues. He was counsel to a defendant in the Godfrey case in which the Supreme Court of Canada clarified the standard for certification of competition class actions and the availability of umbrella purchaser claims. He is the Global Contributing Editor for Lexology’s GTDT’s annual Cartel Regulation deskobook and he won the GCR’s Dealmaker of the Year award in 2016. Neil’s trade law practice includes anti-dumping and subsidy proceedings, export controls, sanctions, and foreign corrupt practices. He is particularly experiences in energy, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals/chemicals, agri-food, natural resources, transportation, and media/technology sectors. ABA – member of the Antitrust Section’s Future of Competition Law Standards Task Force. IBA – past chair, Antitrust Committee; co-chair, Mergers Working Group. CBA – Secretary of the Competition Law Section. Doctorate in competition law (University of Toronto – 1993).
