Practice Areas

Monique has worked in all areas of notarial law, but her interest in and love for buildings and their function for users and the environment have made property law the spearhead of her practice for many years. This translates into assisting parties in property transactions as well as investors and developers in large-scale multifunctional development/redevelopment projects. She has many years of experience and a thorough knowledge of all aspects of ground lease, superficies and divisions into apartment rights. Her way of working is strongly focused on bringing parties together and resolving discussions and disputes, thus ensuring the smooth progress and successful completion of a project or transaction.

Career

Monique Laenen graduated in notarial law from Leiden University in 1992, when she started working at NautaDutilh. In 1998, she switched to Schut & Grosheide (currently DLA Piper) to set up the notarial practice at the time. Monique was appointed civil-law notary in 2003. From the start of DLA Piper she contributed to building the DLA Piper’s real estate practice group, which she also led for nine years. In 2022 she joined Hemwood to set up Hemwood’s notarial practice.
