Matthew Ranelli is chair of Shipman's Renewable Energy Practice, where he represents public and private clients in projects and transactions, disputes and litigation in the areas of environmental, energy and land use law.

Matt’s land use practice includes wetlands permits, zone changes, subdivision, site plans, special permits, variances, workforce and affordable housing, and enforcing and appealing administrative orders. He is effective in working with local, state and federal agencies in drafting environmental and land use regulations. He also represents clients in eminent domain, adverse possession and takings claims.

Matt is a state leader in renewable energy issues including on-site solar generation. He works across industries, advising developers, schools, municipalities and other end-users on clean energy projects, green building standards, energy conservation and efficiency projects, energy savings performance contracts, electricity procurement, and managing energy options.
