Alfredo Fernández advises regional and national manufacturing, technology, education and real estate organizations with a focus on environmental and international trade matters. He serves as the chair of the firm's Manufacturing Team and is chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

As a member of the firm’s national Environmental Practice, Alfredo advises clients across industry types on environmental, health and safety issues that arise in all areas of business operations, including regulatory compliance, transactional due diligence, management and remediation of contaminated properties, dispute resolution, crisis management and property transfer laws such as the Connecticut Transfer Act and the New Jersey Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA). One area of focus is industrial and specialty chemical compliance, in which Alfredo guides clients through market evaluation, chemical/disinfectant product registration, hazard communication and labeling. Alfredo also counsels private and public entities regarding abatement of hazardous materials/conditions (e.g., asbestos, lead, PCBs, PFAS, microbes including SARS-CoV-2, radon, mold, indoor air quality).

Leading the firm’s International Trade Practice, Alfredo also advises companies on matters involving the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and other matters affecting international trade and business, including economic sanctions programs, multilateral trade agreements, foreign investment, foreign employment, anti-bribery programs, customs/imports, and anti-boycott regulations.

In both practice areas, Alfredo assists manufacturers, public and independent schools, colleges and universities, developers and property owners with internal investigations, voluntary disclosures and licenses/permits, transactions and business opportunities, internal compliance policies and agency inspection and enforcement proceedings.

Alfredo strives to understand a client’s business needs and find a pragmatic solution within the framework of the law. He is described by his peers and clients alike as a transparent and attentive strategist, dedicated to his client’s best interests. He understands the complexities of highly nuanced legal structures and sees value in providing thoughtful advice while mitigating the potential risks inherent in the various industries that he counsels.

Prior to joining the firm, Alfredo worked as an aerospace engineer for a leading aircraft engine manufacturer.
