Matthew Morton focuses on the environmental aspects of complex business transactions, including corporate mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions as well as corporate restructurings. He counsels clients regarding environmental liability and risk allocation issues, drafting and negotiating environmental contract language, resolving environmental matters in bankruptcy, obtaining environmental and representations and warranties insurance and pursuing post-closing resolution of compliance and liability issues. He also advises clients on the business implications of pending legislative and regulatory matters, including permitting requirements disclosure and transparency issues and ESG and sustainability initiatives. He has published numerous articles on the legal ramifications of climate change as well as other environmental issues.
