Martin is a partner in Freshfields’ London competition team. He helps clients manage their strategy in relation to competition law issues and covers all aspects of EU and UK competition law, including merger control, antitrust, market reviews and State aid. He is also the co-lead of the firm’s trade practice. He has extensive recent experience of guiding clients through complex merger control processes. Recent major matters include acting for LSEG on the EC Phase II clearance of its acquisition of Refinitiv and acting for Aon on the EC Phase II clearance of its merger with Willis Towers Watson. He has also acted for clients on major cartel and behavioural investigations as well as UK market studies and market investigations.
Qualified at Freshfields in 2003 and became partner in 2014. Martin is based in both London and Brussels.
Author of the competition law chapters in Garzaniti, ‘Electronic Communications, Audiovisual Services and the Internet’ (2020).
