Mark Havenhand

Mark is a partner in the Clinical Negligence team at JMW. He has an interest in all aspects of clinical negligence, including but not limited to, neurosurgery, orthopaedic medicine, general surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology. Mark was previously a partner at a leading nationwide practice and has focussed solely on clinical negligence since his qualification in 2001.

Ranked as a leading individual in legal industry guide Chambers and Partners, Mark is said to be experienced in surgical negligence, gynaecological claims and GP cases. Contacts interviewed for the 2024 edition of the guide said that Mark “is very knowledgeable and thorough” and “is very good and a solid practioner”.

Mark has a proven track record of successful cases against individual surgeons, general practitioners, NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers and medical care provided by the Ministry of Defence for serving and discharged personnel from all of HM Forces.

In addition, Mark has developed an interest in complex spinal injury cases and is representing a number of patients who suffered a failure to adequately diagnose and treat cauda equina syndrome. In 2024, Mark secured £900,000 in compensation for a woman who was left severely debilitated by negligent cauda equina syndrome care.

Mark has been a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers for a number of years and is a Senior Litigator. In addition, he is also a member of the Lexis (Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence) Editorial Board
