Marjorie R. Kennedy is a Partner in the Energy Practice. She has extensive experience in utility regulatory matters and strategic counseling for energy industry clients.
Margie represents electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications utilities in state and federal regulatory proceedings ranging from gas and electric utility rate litigation to multi-state utility reorganizations. Margie leverages her knowledge of the regulatory structure and the operations needs of utilities to craft creative solutions for energy companies.
Margie has extensive experience in distribution ratemaking proceedings under traditional, formula, and multi-year rate structures, with a particular focus on complex cost of capital and finance issues. Margie has experience guiding utilities through periods of transition, including implementation of new rate paradigms, securitization of utility assets, and regulatory investigations. Margie also counsels clients on a wide range of issues affecting the energy industry, including energy transition policies, renewable energy integration, and alternative cost recovery proposals.
Margie has an active pro bono practice, most recently representing clients on immigration issues and successfully arguing a social security appeal at the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and obtaining a remand for her client.
