Mala Sidebottom

Mala is a Partner and qualified medical doctor, specialising in helping clients who have suffered illness and injury as a result of substandard medical care.

The clients she works for are individuals who have experienced injury due to medical negligence and many of the claims have left the client with a permanent disability.

She has a particular interest in helping clients with neurological and birth injury claims. She also regularly works on cases involving delay in treating and diagnosing infectious diseases, inadequate consent for surgery and delay in diagnosing hearing loss.

She has a successful track record of recovering substantial amounts of compensation on her clients’ behalf and recent settlements include a multimillion pound settlement in a wrongful birth claim, a lump sum of over £2.5 Million with periodical payments for life for a client following delay in diagnosis and treatment of herpes simplex encephalitis and a six figure sum for a client following delay in diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis. Another client, who has cognitive impairment following delay in treatment of herpes simplex encephalitis, was successful in a liability only trial in 2023.

Mala joined Moore Barlow in 2015. Previously, she worked in medical negligence for a London law firm for more than 10 years.

Before training as a solicitor, she worked as a practising anaesthetist.

She is regularly invited to speak to medical and legal students at events to discuss issues that affect their professions.
