Career

Mala joined Wilsons in January 2021. She is accredited as a supervising senior caseworker under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme.

Mala is currently ranked in Chambers and Partners as a ‘Star Associate’. Mala has recently worked on a number of judicial review claims for Afghan nationals and their family members, and for asylum seeking clients who were subject to potential removal to Rwanda. She has also successfully challenged a number of unlawful decisions made against EU nationals and their family members. She recently represented Here for Good in a challenge to the Home Office’s implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement and lack of appeal right offered to those whom the Home Office considers do not have reasonable grounds for applying late to the EU Settlement Scheme.

Before joining Wilsons, Mala worked at Wesley Gryk Solicitors where she trained as a solicitor. She developed particular expertise in spouse and partner visas, family and private life applications, and applications for British citizenship.
