Lyndsay Wasser (CIPP/C) leads McMillan’s Privacy & Data Protection Group nationally. She provides strategic support to clients on a wide range of privacy matters, including advising on data security, employee privacy, handling sensitive information (e.g., health, biometrics, and demographic data), web scraping, artificial intelligence, surveillance, and transferring personal information across borders. She helps organizations conduct privacy impact assessments and develop privacy compliance programs, including privacy policies, procedures and consent strategies. Lyndsay drafts and negotiates privacy and data protection terms in a variety of contracts. She advises clients on data breach prevention and response, including risk assessments and reporting strategies. Lyndsay regularly writes and speaks about privacy, including co-authoring Privacy in the Workplace, 4th ed. She has been recognized as a Mondaq Thought Leader for Data Protection, Canada, and was the winner of the 2025 Karen Spector Memorial Award for Excellence in Privacy Law. She has also been repeatedly recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada in Privacy and Data Security Law and by Thomson Reuters Stand-Out Lawyers. She is Chair of the PrivacyRules AI Committee, and Co-Director of Osgoode’s Certificate in Privacy and Cybersecurity Law program.
