Practice Areas
Lena is a partner at Glaholt Bowles LLP and has practiced exclusively in construction law since 2014. She has experience representing clients on a variety of complex disputes on infrastructure, transit, healthcare, institutional, industrial and commercial projects. She has represented clients at trial and on appeal and recently appeared as counsel for a key participant in the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Commission of Inquiry.
Lena regularly advises parties with respect to construction contracts and design services agreements.
Career
Lena is certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by the Law Society of Ontario. Lena has rated as “Consistently Recommended” in construction law by Lexpert and is consistently ranked in publications including Chambers, Best Lawyers and Who’s Who Legal/Lexology. Lena is an adjunct Professor of construction law at Osgoode Hall Law School and teaches at Osgoode’s L.L.M. program.
Professional Memberships
Lena is a member of CPR’s Young Leaders in Alternative Dispute Resolution (Y-ADR) Steering Committee, Vice Chair of the Advocates Society’s Construction Law Practice Group and former section executive of the Canadian Bar Association’s Construction and Infrastructure section. Lena is an Associate of Canadian Surety Bonding (A.C.S.B.), a designation conferred by the Surety Association of Canada.
Publications
Lena is a frequent speaker and published writer, is a co-author of the Annotated Ontario Construction Act and co-authored a chapter in the text, Critical Issues in the Canadian Law of Architects and Engineers.
