Andrea is a partner at Glaholt Bowles LLP and has practiced exclusively in the area of construction law since her call to the bar in 2006. Andrea acts for owners, design professionals, contractors, sureties and insurers in complex disputes arising from infrastructure, transit, healthcare, commercial, institutional and residential projects, with a focus on efficient and client-oriented resolution. Andrea also regularly advises clients with respect to construction contracts and design services agreements.

Career

Building on her background in architecture, Andrea is certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by the Law Society of Ontario. Andrea is consistently ranked in leading lawyer listings including The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation, and Who's Who Legal. Andrea is a mentor to young lawyers through the OBA mentorship program and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the OBA Mentorloop program. In addition, Andrea is a co-founder of the construction law course at Queen's University and teaches construction law as part of Osgoode's LL.M program. She also guest lectures at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at University of Toronto.

Andrea is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers, the Past Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Construction & Infrastructure Section, a member of the Building Transformations Project Delivery & Risk Management Think Tank, a Skills Instructor at The Advocates' Society, a LEED AP, and a member of the Practice Support Committee of the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada.

Publications

Andrea regularly speaks at programs offered by the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations, North American Society of Construction Law, American Bar Association and other industry organizations. Andrea co-authored the “Architects and Engineers” chapter in Halsbury’s Laws of Canada, Construction. She co-edited the text Bidding and Tendering: What is the Law? (6th edition) and is the co-editor and co-author of the text, Critical Issues in the Canadian Law of Architects and Engineers (Toronto: Thomson Reuters, 2023).
