Lauren Hartz is Co-Chair of the firm’s Education practice and Co-Chair of its Organizational Values and Strategy Task Force. A skilled litigator, Lauren has experience at all stages of litigation and arbitration and has defended wins before the federal courts of appeals and the US Supreme Court.
Lauren helps colleges and universities solve their most complex challenges. An active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Lauren has navigated high-profile campus disputes, conducted sensitive investigations, and defended lawsuits over free speech, sexual misconduct, antitrust, and more. With particular experience handling class action matters, Lauren has achieved victories for institutions in the Ivy League, Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC.
Educational institutions, foundations, and companies seek Lauren’s counsel to review and fortify their diversity and inclusion initiatives. From redesigning university admissions programs, to refining approaches to employee and supplier engagement, Lauren helps her clients anticipate and address this evolving legal landscape while remaining true to their mission and values.
Before joining the firm, Lauren worked in a civil rights enforcement role at the Justice Department, at a plaintiff-side firm, and for multiple non-profits and legal aid organizations.
