She handles high-profile and complex standalone environmental cases with precision and a client-focused approach. She has extensive experience in various emerging areas of environmental law, including Water-as-a-Service (WaaS) projects, PFAS contamination, asbestos contamination, nitrogen issues in permitting procedures, and EU taxonomy/ESG issues.

Furthermore, she has a strong track record in providing legal assistance in environmental and urban planning disputes (administrative and jurisdictional appeal procedures (Council of State/Council for Permit Disputes), as well as proceedings before ordinary courts and courts of appeal).

Kyoto Van Herreweghe has extensive expertise in energy law, with a particular focus on regulatory compliance, energy contracts and innovative energy projects. She advises both Belgian and international clients on the complex Belgian and European energy regulatory framework and handles high‑profile matters across electricity, gas, renewable energy, energy storage and utilities (including Water as a Service). Her practice combines in‑depth regulatory knowledge with a strong focus on project development and dispute resolution.

She is an active member of the AIJA (Association of International Young Lawyers) Environment and Energy Committee and a member of the Real Estate Society (RES).
